Transforming Teaching Strategies

The two-day workshop for teachers of KIIT World School, led by esteemed scholar and educationist Ms. Padma Prabhu, focused on innovative teaching pedagogies sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and the Yusuf Hamied Professional Development Programme. The workshop aimed to equip teachers with active learning techniques applicable across subjects, aligning with the competencies outlined in the NEP 2020. Ms. Prabhu emphasized the importance of enhancing students’ knowledge and enthusiasm for learning through hands-on activities and online resources.

Throughout the sessions, teachers actively engaged in practical exercises and discussions, exploring diverse teaching strategies and utilizing diagnostic questions to challenge common misconceptions. The workshop provided teachers with opportunities to extend their teaching repertoire, plan lessons incorporating active learning methods, and access online resources and AI tools to enhance science education. Overall, the workshop facilitated a collaborative learning environment where teachers gained valuable insights and practical skills to enrich their teaching practices and foster student-centered learning experiences.

Prioritizing Mental Health

Educators from KIIT World School actively engaged in the two-day NPSC Conference at the India International Centre in New Delhi, themed ‘Nurturing Minds: Fostering Mental Health and Wellbeing,’ stressing the significance of addressing mental health concerns in education. Panel discussions led by eminent personalities explored strategies for enhancing emotional safety among students. Sessions also delved into leveraging technology like AI, with speakers like Mr. Ajay Kumar, IAS (Retd.), discussing its role in promoting emotional resilience. Additionally, advocates like Dr. Swaroop Sampat Rawal underscored the importance of performing arts in fostering self-expression and harmony. Day two featured luminaries from various fields, including former cricketers Mr. Chetan Sharma and Mr. VVS Laxman, and diplomats like Mr. Amitabh Kant, IAS (Retd.) G-20 Sherpa, with Mr. Deepak Vohra providing insights into the intersection of mental health and societal wellbeing.

Mathematics, often referred to as the language of the universe, holds a significant place in our lives. It is the foundation upon which many disciplines and industries thrive, and it plays a crucial role in shaping our understanding of the world.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) / केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड (सी.बी.एस.ई.), Centre of Excellence /उत्कृष्टता केंद्र, Delhi West conducted a Capacity Building Programme on Mathematics Secondary on Friday, 23/06/2023 and Saturday, 24/06/2023. The programme was open to teachers of all West Delhi schools. The resource persons, Mr. Subhash Chandra Raute and Mr. Syed F. Sattar, shared their experiences about learning and teaching Mathematics. The session was well equipped with a lot of fun-filled and engaging activities such as passing your whole body from a single A4 size sheet, conceptual understanding through paper folding etc. The teachers also learnt about Geogebra, a wonderful ICT tool for engaging children to impart 21st century skills to them. The teachers also performed error analysis towards understanding the most common errors made by students during class. The entire focus of the workshop was on developing a love for Mathematics amongst children as a step towards learning and understanding the real life applications of Mathematics. The resource persons also shared various competency based questions to support teachers in improving the learning outcomes of their students.

The workshop included a short test that was given to all the participants to gauge their learning from the workshop. The interactive sessions, which were spread over a period of two days, concluded with a discussion on the rationalised syllabi of the Board classes.

Capacity Building Programme on Gender Sensitivity

KIIT World School, Pitampura, hosted a CBSE capacity building programme on gender sensitivity. The session was graced by Shri Yash Makkar, Head, Centre of Excellence, CBSE Regional Office Delhi West.

Zonal Workshop on Filling the U-DISE Form

KIIT World School, Pitampura Delhi hosted a workshop for the private and unaided schools of Zone XI for training on filling the U-DISE form. Shri Rakesh Rahi, DDE district, North-West B, and Shri Pradeep Bhardwaj, Distt. Coordinator, were present along with master trainers from U-DISE.
